Safety and proper insurance are not optional for a waste carrier operating across London. WASTEZERO LTD maintains up-to-date insurance policies and a documented approach to site safety for every job, from domestic household clearances to commercial and trade waste collections.

1. Public Liability Insurance

We hold a Public Liability Insurance policy covering our operations across London, including work carried out at domestic properties, commercial premises, and on the public highway. This policy covers claims for bodily injury or property damage arising from our negligent acts, errors, or omissions during a booked job.

The current level of cover is available on request and is reviewed annually. Certificate copies can be emailed to customers, property managers, or clients before a job on simple request to quotes@wastezero.co.uk.

2. Goods in Transit Insurance

Goods in Transit insurance is maintained for items we collect and carry in our vehicles. This covers accidental damage, fire, and theft risks during the carriage of collected items from the pickup address to the point of disposal or, in the case of retained items, to the agreed delivery location.

3. Employers' Liability

Where WASTEZERO LTD engages employees or labour-only subcontractors under our direct supervision, appropriate Employers' Liability cover is in place as required by the Employers' Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969.

4. Vehicle Insurance

All tippers, vans, and collection vehicles used by WasteZero London are insured for business use, including carriage of waste, in line with Road Traffic Act requirements. Operators driving on behalf of WasteZero London hold the appropriate driving licence classes and are subject to licence and eligibility checks.

5. Licensed Waste Carrier Status

WASTEZERO LTD is registered as a waste carrier, broker, and dealer with the Environment Agency. Our current registration number is CBDU655124.

This registration is a legal requirement for anyone carrying waste as part of a trade or business. You can verify the registration at any time on the Environment Agency public register at:

6. On-Site Safety Approach

Every job is expected to follow the safety principles below. Collection leads are briefed to stop work if they consider any part of the job unsafe.

  • Personal Protective Equipment: Teams carry and wear appropriate PPE — typically safety boots, gloves, and where appropriate high-visibility clothing and dust masks.
  • Manual handling: Two-person lifts are used for heavy or awkward items. Teams are trained in safe lifting practice and will not take shortcuts that put themselves or others at risk.
  • Housekeeping: Pathways are kept clear, sharp or hazardous items are handled separately, and the work area is swept and left tidy after collection.
  • Traffic management: Where loading takes place on the public highway, consideration is given to pedestrians, passing traffic, and visibility. Warning boards or cones are used where the team considers it appropriate.
  • Hazardous items: If hazardous, unknown, or unsafe items are found on site, the team will stop, discuss the options with the customer, and only proceed once the correct handling route is agreed — including specialist disposal where required.

7. Duty of Care and Waste Transfer Notes

Every job is covered by a Duty of Care waste transfer description. A Waste Transfer Note (WTN) is available on request for every collection. The WTN records the waste hierarchy classification, the quantity, the parties involved, and the destination of the waste. These records are retained for at least three years as required by environmental legislation.

8. Reporting Safety or Insurance Concerns

If you have any concerns about safety, insurance, or licensing during a job, or if you would like copies of any documentation before or after collection, please contact the Customer Support team at quotes@wastezero.co.uk or on 07349766766.

Where an incident has occurred on site or in transit, please report it as soon as possible so we can record the details and, where necessary, notify our insurers within the policy reporting window.

9. Subcontractor Assurance

Where WasteZero London uses approved subcontractor partners — for example to handle overflow work, specialist disposal routes, or larger multi-vehicle jobs — we require:

  • Evidence of active waste carrier registration.
  • Evidence of adequate Public Liability insurance.
  • A written subcontractor agreement covering duty-of-care, conduct, and data handling.

Substandard or uninsured operators are never used. Any partner falling short of our requirements is removed from the approved list immediately.
